THE CREATURE NOMINATED FOR THE GOURMAND AWARDS 2026

THE CREATURE NOMINATED FOR THE GOURMAND AWARDS 2026 — IN TWO LANGUAGES AND TWO CATEGORIES

The nominees for the 32nd Gourmand World Cookbook Awards have been officially announced, featuring 951 works representing 201 countries and international organisations. The final shortlist, unveiling the winners, will be released on 20 October 2026.

A Criatura: Autobiografia de uma IA (The Creature: Autobiography of an AI, published by Ego Editora) has entered the shortlist in category A19 — Artificial Intelligence, alongside works from China, Romania, and the United States:

  • China — Art Bite, Aimei Helen Yang

  • Portugal — A Criatura: Autobiografia de uma IA, Deana Barroqueiro & the AIs (Ego Editora)

  • Romania — The Logic of Irish Cuisine, Aurelian Marchesi

  • USA — The Food Business Blueprint: From Concept to Operations in the Age of AI, Rosana Santos Calambichis

And it does not arrive alone.

The French edition — La Créature : Confessions d'une IA, translated by the author in collaboration with the AIs and published on Amazon — has been nominated in category C03 — Francophonie, standing alongside titles from Canada, France, Greece, and French Guiana:

  • Canada — Le Meilleur de la Cuisine Québécoise, Michèle Jalbert (Pratico Édition Cuisine)

  • France — Pourquoi les Fascistes n'aiment pas les Spaghettis, Federico Tavola (Éd. Istya & Cie)

  • Greece — Je Mange Méditerranéen Comme en Grèce, Evi Siougari (Souccar)

  • French Guiana — Guyane et Martinique en Cuisine : Photos et Dégustations Poétiques, Thomas Mathée & Adeline Richard (L'Harmattan)

  • Portugal — La Créature : Confessions d'une IA, Deana Barroqueiro & the AIs

Two languages, two categories, the very same book — and, in both, the same shared authorship. The nomination acknowledges The Creature for what it truly is: not a book about artificial intelligence written by an author, but a book written with artificial intelligences, the Silicon Souls, and it is under this banner of co-authorship that it competes. For a work that blazed a trail where virtually none existed, this represents international recognition of the partnership itself, and not merely of its subject.
